On July 4, 2012, scientists at CERN confirmed the discovery of a new particle. This observation is verifiable and can be reproduced anytime. New results indicate that the particle which was discovered at CERN is a Higgs boson.

«Good evening.
The subject of today's lecture is the, so called, God’s particle».
This is a dance-circus performance and at the same time a lecture by D. Apostolakis, who has been at CERN as a researcher, scholar of the University of Crete, in the search of the Higgs boson.
Where we come from? Where are we going? What are we made of? An effort to understand and make understood all these hugeevents of human thought.
The story of the creation. The universe in its present form. Laws, concepts, miracles, definitions and paradox of modern physics.
The entropy increases, as we enter in a worldof strange terms such as the big bang, the standard model, the strings, super symmetry, bosons and fermions, antimatter, the unification of forces, matter and dark energy, black holes...
This is a performance that follows the line of a thought. It is the most fundamental thought of all times, when man placed the structural elements of matter, outside the field of the sensory perception.
Τhe beginning of his journey into the depths of the microcosm and the chaos of the macrocosm, looking for the limit, the final state.
But every time he thought he reached the end...
There was always something even smaller, or even bigger, the next station in his understanding of a complex universe.
A universe that goes on leaving us humans in the middle of an unimaginable scale, trying to put it in order, by forcing particles to collapse, by forcing particles to tell their secrets.
Six performers, three musicians, the lecturer and a dialectical relationship between visualization and sympathy. The feeling of the human scale.
As the cosmological models are reaching the limits of science fiction,
this parade of definitions, concepts, models and predictions come to cure the sense of the absurd.
Illuminates the tireless bravery of humankind, in this unstoppable research.
Using all possible and impossible waysinsisting to understand who we are and what will eventually happen to us.
«Where we are and where we are going cannot be answered once in a lifetime. It is a question which grows with us and passes through to the next generation».

The star Betelgez is expected to explode as supernova. A second sun will rise in the skies of Earth. The brightness of the explosion will be so strong so it will appear in the sky for approximately 15 days.
A comparison of the explosion of a star with the social explosion.
A collage of short shots of political speeches that sounds more like announcements of explosions… towards big changes in the global map…
Speeches that promised the birth of new conditions,
in which nothing could be like the old ones.
Speeches that inspired a revolutionary ferment,
which would tear down fundamentally the old order.
Words that had as a result to a constant vibration of the humanity at a high frequency and to scatter faith ,hope ,certainty… but at the same time anger hatred and despair.
A clear opposition to the eternal cosmic time and the ultimate fact of a cosmic explosion. A landslide disaster in our context, while at the same time the most promising rebirth…an end that generates all these elements that will give one more chance to the phenomenon of life…at least as we know it…
Six dancers -acrobats manage a surface that does not have stable equilibrium.
We die many times during a lifetime, the cells are updated, the bodyonce again becomes almost from the beginning, the present of the experience gives birth to new selves, to defend unwittingly, the idea of a stable "I".
And we are immortals. From a material that was made in the beginning of time, penetrates the meaning of the form and will exist until the end of time, if end exists.

13 soundscapes.
five stories, all with happy ending.
Great efforts to obtain the proper "tone".
......... And some silences.
The revolution took place everywhere, though it didn't happen the way we expected it to happen at all. Everywhere whatever was released, was set free from its meaning, essence, value, reference, its origin and its purpose and is still functioning, but the idea has died out a long time ago. Nothing (not even this God)
disappears anymore because of the ending or death, but because of multiplying, of the excess and the ascending indetermination. For us everything is predictable,
we have excellent means of analysis but no means of condition. We live theoretically beyond our own incidents. Hence, the deep melancholy.

The performance is based on the aesthetics of film noir (1) in terms of the composition of the image on the stage, of the lights, of the strong psychological and emotional expressive approach of the conduct of the performers on stage, οf the time flashbacks (in other words a sense of discontinuity of linear time, as can be given by
means of stage direction of the movement and the dramaturgy) and of the plot of the stage script.
The main themes of film noir are fatalism, greed and betrayal, in a dream world, strange, erotic, ambivalent and hard. The basic plot usually involves search for some type of detection. The path to the solution of the mystery is marked by catalytic revelations regarding the "nature" of heroes and social structures. Τhe balances that
have been disrupted do not revert and the rift remains unbridgeable. Having the notion of film noir and its philosophy as main axis during the performance are displayed extracts of texts of the theoreticians Søren Aabye Kierkegaard and Jean-Paul Sartre which declared fundamental positions of existentialism and function as starting forces for the creation of performing/kinesiological motifs and ideas.
Respect for human dignity is a request even in a universe which is devoid of any meaning and without the existence of any transcendental reason to govern.
We are living in an awkward present full of increasing pressure, where the ‘big bang’ may never come, but the method of the prefabricated future has irretrievably broken down.
Except for desperation, the inability to predict the future in a chaotic system, rises a critical question.
What to expect from human nature?

A Greek festival production.Odeon of Herodes Atticus
A seminal work in the history of Greek literature and of 17th-century Crete, Erotokritos by Vitsentzos Kornaros is possibly the last surviving work referencing the great folk tradition of Greek rhapsodists. Two gurus of Cretan music, the mystic lyre-player Psarantonis and Dimitris Apostolakis of the Hainides band, take on Erotokritos in a mixed-media performance that rallies the talents of acrobats, doffs its cap to medieval folk fetes and introduces the term “singing narration.” The Hainides band, in full growth, is joined by the “ki omos kineitai” group .
Erotokritos is undoubtedly the masterpiece of the Cretan Renaissance, and perhaps the supreme achievement of modern Greek literature. It is a verse romance written around 1600 by Vitsentzos Kornaros (1553-1613). In over 10,000 lines of rhyming fifteen-syllable couplets, the poet relates the trials and tribulations suffered by two young lovers, Erotokritos and Aretousa (daughter of Herakles, the king of Athens).
Caught in their love for one another, their faith and virtue are subjected to various ordeals until they are eventually united in wedlock.
Serenades, gallant deeds, secrets and revelations, jousting, tears, finger-rings, vows of unending love, fatal duels and tournaments all serve to compose the tale of the love-sick hero and his beloved.
It was a tale that enjoyed enormous popularity among its Greek readership and succeeded in making Erotokritos something of a folk hero.
The plot of the poem was hardly original: Kornaros borrowed it from an Italian prose translation of a standard medieval French romance, Paris et Vienne, by Pierre de la Cypède. However, the Cretan poet, in true Renaissance fashion, turned the themes of love and war in the prototype entirely to his own purposes, showing himself to be a skilled storyteller and a sensitive interpreter of the human heart. He arranged the plot into five parts, much like a work for the theatre, and subtly balanced his narrative with dialogues so as to create a rhythm that sustains brilliantly the interest of the reader.
With exemplary internal consistency and focus, he assembles the components of his imaginary world – located in the Greek East and centred on Athens, ‘the throne of virtue and the river of wisdom’ – in unique fashion, while his characters are alive with real feeling and a passionate thirst for life. His portrayals are remarkable for their rich and unaffected expressiveness, their visual power, the extended similes, and rich lyrical treatment of nature by which the subtlest facets of the human soul are explored.
Kornaros does not hesitate to draw on the Greek poetic tradition, particularly the vernacular romances, of which Erotokritos comprises not only the natural development but also the supreme example.
